Volvo Duo R60D And EC950E Vital For Indonesian Coal Mine

With booming demand for coal, PT Prima Sarana Gemilang, a mining contractor based in Jakarta, purchased three R60D rigid haulers and a EC950E crawler excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment to help the company meet its 2019 target of producing 11.6 million cu.m. of overburden and 2.4 million tons of coal. The 60-ton rigid haulers and 100-ton crawler excavator are working 20 hours daily removing overburden at a site in Berau Regency to keep up with the industry’s demands.

The R60D features a powerful engine that delivers 522 kW at 2,000 rpm. The 60-ton rigid hauler offers high performance, even at low engine speeds, and the winning combination of power, comfort and productive system to help companies boost profitability, productivity, fuel efficiency and reliability.

The EC950E excavator offers an ideal combination of power and stability, to handle high capacity duties in the toughest applications. With a bucket breakout force of 424 kN and an arm tearout force of 408 kN, the EC950E offers superior digging force, particularly when working with hard and heavy materials. Powered by a 446 kW (606 hp) Volvo D16 engine, the EC950E utilizes advanced technology built on decades of experience to ensure highly productive operations. Cycle times are cut to a minimum thanks to the power and torque of the engine combined with the new fully electro-hydraulic system.

In addition to the R60Ds and EC950E, PT Prima Sarana Gemilang also owns and relies on a large fleet of Volvo earthmoving machines to support coal production at the mine in Berau Regency. The fleet includes: crawler excavator models EC700DL, EC750DL and EC210D; articulated hauler model A35F; motor graders G990 and G970; and soil compactor model SD110.

The three R60D and the EC950E are the newest addition to PT Prima Sarana Gemilang’s fleet. Both were purchased in mid to late 2018 from PT Indotruck Utama, one of Volvo Construction Equipment’s two distribution partners in Indonesia.
