Layher Allround Scaffolding System The Ideal Choice For The Indian Market

Mithilesh Kumar

Director
Layher Scaffolding Systems Pvt. Ltd.

Layher is the world’s biggest manufacturer of scaffolding systems offering a comprehensive range of scaffolding systems, protective systems and event systems, plus rolling towers and ladders. Since 2007, Layher has been represented in India by their wholly-owned subsidiary. Layher Allround Scaffolding has now become synonymous with modular scaffolding on the market. Mr. Mithilesh Kumar, Director, Layher Scaffolding Systems Pvt. Ltd., in conversation with CE&CR, shares his product offerings and range, technological developments and much more.

CE&CR: What is the Layher Allround Scaffolding system? What are the safety features of this scaffolding system?

Mithlesh Kumar: Layher Allround Scaffolding is Modular Scaffolding System. Allround Scaffolding is similar to Allround performance like one system with multiple Application. Even with very difficult layouts and architecture styles and with heightened safety requirements, Allround Scaffolding is always the faster, safer and more economical solution. The proven combination of positive and non-positive connections in rapid bolt-free system technology with Auto Lock function permits connections that are automatically right-angled, obtuse-angled and acute-angled as required, with built-in safety at the same time.

This original system has been continually improved since it was launched in 1974, and offers an impressive variety of uses: at every construction site, in industry, chemical plants, power stations, shipyards and for events. As scaffolding for working, protection, facades or for support, as internal or birdcage scaffolding, or as rolling towers.

Features of Scaffolding Systems:

  • Higher fitting performance and higher and more shipping space due to special high-tensile steel and constructive improvement, reducing weight of components and raising load-bearing capacity.

  • No time-consuming fitting of spigots and double storage, due to a single standard with integrated spigot for supported and suspended scaffolding.

  • The integrated scaffolding system for easy and complicated applications is fully combinable with all former generations. Maximum investment protection thanks to long durability, purchase availability for decades and continuous enhancements.

  • Improved working safety and time saving on assembly due to the Auto Lock function.

  • Improved working due to the lower weight in the system and more headroom by approx. 10 cm

CE&CR: What are the processes that go into selecting the right scaffolding system for high-rise buildings?

Mithlesh Kumar: Selection of scaffolding for high-rise building depends upon application and many parameters (technical specification of scaffolding pipes, potential worksite risks and hazards, ground and foundation conditions, load bearing capacity, including dead loads and live loads, wind force, anchoring, bracing, and supporting structures). Scaffolding is comfortably for end users and need to follow local safety compliances. The use of scaffolding is crucial in providing a safe and protected workplace where workers are required to work at a variety of heights. Its equipment provides support on height while ensuring workers’ safety during the construction, repair, or cleaning of a structure or machine. Scaffolding is always the faster, safer and more economical solution. As work scaffolding and safety scaffolding at the facade, as birdcage, trestle and suspended scaffolding, or as a rolling tower – the right scaffolding at all times and for every job and requirement.

More Possibilities. The Scaffolding System
More speed, more safety, more proximity, more simplicity and more future: values with which we strengthen our customers’ competitiveness in the long term. With our innovative systems and solutions, we’re working all the time on making scaffolding construction even simpler, even more economical and, above all, even safer.

CE&CR: What steps can be taken to prevent accidents caused due to scaffolding failures?

Mithlesh Kumar: Scaffolding is a temporary Structure use for construction and maintenance work means of support structure which enables workers to reach the required heights while constructing, maintenance or repairing the existing structures to prevent accidents.

For construction projects where high loads have to be transmitted at some points, for example in bridge building, shoring of particularly high load capacity is needed. Heavy shoring structures using steel sections are frequently used here.

With the Allround Heavy Duty Tower XL, Layher is now offering a modular and system-integrated shoring tower based on standard Allround Scaffolding parts.

With a few lightweight components supplementing the proven Allround Scaolding construction kit, load capacities in the mega newton class are attained, yet easy to handle for better logistics and assembly – even when no crane is available – and permitting integrated work platforms and accesses within the system.

CE&CR: Tell us about your landmark project.

Mithlesh Kumar: We have done historical project “Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsav – Gommateshware Bhagawan Sri Bahubali at Shravanbelagola. The main structure for Mahamastakabhisheka is constructed just behind Lord Bahubali on top of Vindhyagiri Hill. The main Scaffolding structures are used by devotees/Pilgrims for Mahabhisheka.

Industrial Application - Layher Allround for Sheet Replacement of ACES Tower Lift (A Train) at 92 m Height in Chemical Plant - the multiple structured with different sizes operated by chemical and fertilizer is currently being refurbished, and corrosion prevention experts have to treat the entire structure time to time. Safe access to all location of main building is assured with the use of a modular scaffolding system.

By using Allround Scaffold is only possibility to complete maintenance on time with full safety as per requirement.

Layher new lightweight scaffolding is result of a major, multi-year R&D project with as clearly defined objective: to make scaffolding easier, safe and above all more cost effective for customer.

CE&CR: What are the latest technological developments taking place in the scaffolding system?

Mithlesh Kumar: Layher have developed the Allround bridging system is the ideal complement to Layher Allround equipment. With just a few additional components, the load-bearing capacity of the proven Allround system can be increased enough to create, for example, wide-span footbridges or support structures for heavy loads. When a footbridge is built, the Allround bridging system is connected to Allround standards using the wedge heads provided on the sides of the posts. Depending on application, either Event decks or steel decks can be used. The bridge can also be clad using Layher Protect cassettes and roofed. The bridge is mounted on Layher heavy-duty columns with specially designed support elements. These support elements permit pre-assembly on the ground and subsequent insertion by crane, which is a major advantage when spanning bridges across roads.

The future in scaffolding construction is Digital – and it’s name is “SIM”

Scaffolding Information Modelling – SIM for short – is a process based on 3D models and designed by Layher to meet the specific requirements of scaffolding construction. SIM not only allows you to plan, assemble and manage temporary scaffolding structures more efficiently, but also affords access to BIM at the same time. With the integrated Layher software solution “LayPLAN SUITE”, you have a powerful tool for the SIM process: LayPLAN CLASSIC facilitates a start in digital planning by allowing automated planning of predefined scaffolding applications – and if required even with temporary roof structures. For complex scaffolding structures as part of large-scale engineering scaffolding, there is Lay-PLAN CAD.
