Evaluated by a distinguished panel of experts from the construction and infrastructure industry, these awards represent well-deserved recognition from a renowned journal that has been at the forefront of the industry for the past 38 years, consistently keeping professionals informed about the latest developments, innovations, and technological advancements. This year marked the 4th edition of the CE&CR Awards, further solidified its role as a platform for honoring excellence in the field.
The seminar "Connecting India Through Infrastructure Development and Innovation" emphasized the crucial role that robust infrastructure plays in uniting the nation. As the nation strides towards becoming a global economic powerhouse, infrastructure development emerged as the backbone, facilitating connectivity, economic efficiency, and socio-economic growth.
It was a platform designed to bring together industry leaders, researchers, and professionals to discuss and explore the transformative role of infrastructure in driving India's growth and development.
The seminar focused on the importance of innovation and sustainable practices in the planning, design, and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects. Under its carefully curated sub-themes, the event covered diverse yet interconnected areas, including:
Roads and Highways: Explored advancements in construction, smart highways, and strategies to enhance connectivity across urban and rural regions.
Bridges: Showcased innovative designs and sustainable construction techniques for durable and iconic structures.

About Smt. Ashwini Bhide
Smt. Ashwini Bhide, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the batch of 1995 of Maharashtra cadre, is a post-graduate in English Literature from Pune University. She was ranked first among women candidates in Civil Service Examination in the year 1995. She has served in the State government for 30 years in various capacities and sectors ranging from rural administration, social development sectors to urban administration and infrastructure.
She has served as CEO of Rural Local Bodies, Joint Secretary to Governor of Maharashtra, Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) and is currently posted as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Smt. Ashwini Bhide has helmed some of the most ambitious, complex and mega urban infrastructure projects in the city of Mumbai such as Mumbai Coastal Road project (South), Mumbai Metro Line-3 the first fully underground project of the city, Eastern Freeway, the elevated road to International Airport, several flyovers on major arterial roads, rail over bridges as well as the first phase of Mumbai Monorail.
She was also the Head of BMC’s COVID19 Response War Room where several digital initiatives were rapidly implemented, including the Daily Dashboards which were recognized at national as well as at international level.
Smt. Bhide is currently serving as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and also holds the position of Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC). Mumbai Metro Line-3 is part of Mumbai Metro Master Plan (357 km network consisting of 14 Metro corridors) prepared by Government of Maharashtra (GoM). Line-3 is 33.5 km long fully underground Metro corridor with 27 (26 Underground + 1 At grade) stations and connects major CBDs and employment centers, Domestic and International terminals of Airport and several areas, which are not served by Suburban Railways. It is expected to carry 17 lakh passengers per day once fully completed and connected to network. The overall estimated cost of the project is Rs. 37,276 crores (4.47 billion USD), out of which Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide loan assistance of Rs, 21,280 crores (2.55 billion USD). She has been instrumental in getting various challenges hampering this project addressed in an expeditious manner with her leadership and coordination skills. 22 km length of this corridor with 16 underground stations is made operational recently and remaining corridor is expected to be commissioned by December 2025.

About Er. R K Gupta
Born on April 4, 1960, Er. Ravi Kant Gupta earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1981 from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee). His professional journey began with Larsen & Toubro Limited wherein he was involved in the construction of the Lotus Temple (Bahai Temple) at Delhi. Post L&T he worked in Engineers India Limited. In 1983, he joined the UP-State Bridge Corporation as an Assistant Engineer and led numerous prestigious bridge and building projects. Among his remarkable achievements were the Twin Bridge over the River Periyar and the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium with a sitting capacity of 30,000 in Thiruvananthapuram, completed in an extraordinary 120 days. For this achievement, he was honoured with a Gold Medal by the Chief Minister of Kerala. He was also a key figure in constructing numerou pre-stressed concrete bridges across India. In New Delhi, he oversaw the construction of the Chirag Delhi Flyover, pioneering the use of pre-cast pre-tensioned beams in India, including the establishment of a dedicated casting yard - a groundbreaking endeavor at that time. In 1994, he founded BRIDGECON INDIA, initially involved in supply and installation of Expansion Joints. In 1998 the company started providing consultancy services and manufacturing moulds for pre-casting and launching systems for flyovers, metros and bridge construction. He conceptualized and implemented the pre-casting and launching scheme for U-Shaped girders, first used in India on DMRC Line 3 (Airport Express Line). Till date Bridgecon has supplied over 400 Launching Girders across India. By 2000, Er. Gupta became a full-time Director at Arvind Techno Engineers Pvt. Ltd., contributing to the construction of numerous pre-cast and pre-stressed bridges. In 2015, ‘Bridgecon’ partnered with ‘Dywidag Germany’ to form “Dwyidag Bridgecon India Pvt. Ltd.” specializing in stay cable systems, pre-stressing systems and ground anchor technologies for infrastructure projects. Till date the Joint Venture company has bagged 35 projects for Extra-Dosed & Cable Stayed Bridges and have successfully completed and delivered 14 Nos bridges till date. Additionally, Dywidag Bridgecon has also executed almost 54,000 Tons of Post Tensioning work in the under-construction Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (Bullet Train). With over 42 years of experience, Er. R. K. Gupta made pioneering contributions to bridge construction in India. He championed the adoption of innovative technologies such as pre-cast pre-tensioned girders and precast segmental construction techniques, while developing extremely cost effective and user-friendly launching systems. His work extended to numerous flyovers, bridges, metro rails and high-speed rail projects across Delhi and the nation. Er. R.K. Gupta’s unwavering dedication to CE&CR was invaluable. His steadfast support in organizing the “CE&CR Awards” and his exemplary professionalism were integral to our success.
